Wishlist Update

24 February 2009
On December 02, 2008, I posted a list of my goals for this year.
And I must admit, I’m working quite diligently to complete them, in a timely fashion.
Granted the list is also getting longer, but that is a post for another day.

Here is a status report, to date.

  • A High Necked Smock with built in ruffs, circa late 1550’s thru the early 1560’s.
This goal was altered.  I realized that I did want a separate suit of ruffs.  The smock its self is about 85% finished, needing fasteners and a hem. The ruffs are hemmed and trimmed with lace. They need to be gathered into the neck and wristbands.

  • New Stays and Farthingale
These have fallen as a priority. I am putting them on hold as my existing undies will work just fine until after Scarby.  They will survive a few more outings.

  • My Moroni Doublet Project
I have finished the Jerkin Buttons, and Now I am working on the 36 toffee colored buttons for the doublet.  My rattail for the trampunto came in yesterday, so I can start working on the doublet in earnest.
The blog will be very heavy with Moroni traffic in the coming week, as I begin the month leading up to opening weekend at Scarby.

  • Forepart and Sleeves-
I finished decorating the gold damask forepart last night, and began on the sleeves, as I am keen to have a hand project to work at on week nights, when I can’t let the sewing machine hold me in its thrall.  I think it will go really well with the two taffeta gowns I have planned.

  • The Blue Clouet-

This is on hold till after Scarby.  I have other plans, for its sister, that have trumped it.  But that
deserves a post all of its own.

Rattail, take two!

13 February 2009

I got ripped off on Ebay.  First time ever!  On December 12th I ordered Rattail, a narrow polyester cording, for the pin-tucks on my Moroni Doublet.  As of February 13th it’s still not here.  That’s 2 months, several emails, and a Ebay case later.  I’m sure they sent the package, but it never got here, and they refused to do anything to rectify it.  So I will leave them really horrid feedback and be done with it.

In the meantime, I still need that Rattail for my doublet.  So I bought some more from another seller.  Hopefully it will make it here in a reasonable amount of time, as I wanted this outfit to wear for opening weekend of Scarby, and that is quickly approaching.

In the mean time, I’m going to keep working on my high necked smock, which has been serged and partially assembled.  Also I need to make my toffee colored silk buttons for the doublet.  The jerkin buttons are finally finished.
