Mineral Makeup

29 January 2009

I’ve discovered a line of Mineral Makeup that I like even more than “Bare Minerals.”

Everyday Minerals, a company out of Austin, Texas, makes a product which is every bit as good as the big mineral makeup companies.  The big bonus lie in the far more reasonable price point and their ecologically conscientious philosophy.

To facilitate easier color selection, they provide an option for a “free sample kit” that allows you to select the colors of foundation (3 choices), concealer (1 choice), and a cheek or eye color.  All for the price of shipping.  The sample sizes are generous, allowing for weeks of trial before you run out.  In addition to my free sample kit, I ordered several eye and cheek colors.  The Everyday Mineral eye color sample size, for $2.50, contains the same amount of product as the “Bare Minerals” eye colors, $13 average retailer price, less than a quarter of the price.

Another amusing aspect is the color names of the products.  For example, I purchased cheek colors called things like “Snooze Bar” and “Back to School.”  Far more creative and entertaining than “azure or gold.”

Overall I’m very pleased with the product, recommend it highly, and plan to buy again.

Tim Buttons-

22 January 2009

A few years ago I made this doublet for Tim.  At that time it had fabric covered buttons, but they have proven to not be as durable as I would have liked.  So this season I promised that I would make him a set of silk thread wrapped buttons.  I have finally made good on this promise.  I finished the last 5 last night.
