BG Redux: Part Deux

21 November 2008

If you recall I came back from TRF with a laundry list of things that need to be done to the Bionic Gown (BG).  I’ve gotten some of the work done.  As marked by the colored text.

Fitting work:

  • I need to move the bar on my farthingale over to make it a titch bigger. (Done)
  • The cap sleeve band needs to have a little more give, so that my smocked and sleeved arms can go through with greater ease.
  • The bodice could be a half an inch to an inch shorter. (In progress, I ran out of thread)

Finishing work:

  • I discovered some basting that needs to be removed. (Done)
  • The trim on my forepart shredded itself within 30 minutes, it needs
to be replaced with the trim I originally had on it, go figure. (Done, I also bound the bottom so that it won’t fray again)
  • The sleeves still needs to be lined. (Trying to find the linings that have been cut and assembled already.)
  • The forepart and over skirt need to have the fasteners put on them, the pining isn’t working terribly well. (Done)

Additional discoveries, which means projects (listed in order of priority):

  • I really need to get that French hood built.  Old hat has finally
given up the ghost.  It has served me well, but it is time for it to
retire.  Plus with the French hood, very little of my hair is seen, so
I don’t have to concern myself with having my hair braided.  Big Plus! (Coif is started)
  • It was really cold this weekend.  I was really cold, especially
once the sun went down.  Especially in the bosom area.  I need to build
a little shoulder cape to remedy this. (I bought a really cute pattern.)
  • I’d like to have a high necked smock, to help cover the cold bosom.
  • I would like to replace the pillow in my farthingale to give my back skirt a bit more umpf.
  • Recovering the needle book, so I don’t have to drag out the sushi wallet every time I need ID or money, would also be nice.
