It’s Sunny AND Brisk….this can’t possibly be Houston.

29 October 2008

I made two discoveries today.  First, shoes with vents are not a good idea in 50 degree weather, especially without socks, so the Crocs might have to be retired until spring.  Secondly, I need a better sweater, seriously.  My little light weight hoodie sweater just isn’t cutting it any longer.  It’s too flipping cold.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but, Gloves might be a good idea too.   I always viewed gloves as overkill in  Houstonian Octobers and always considered people who wore gloves in Houston in October to be pansies.  I have discovered, however, that not having the windbreak provided by the walls of the Toyota makes me a bit more susceptible to nippiness.  So gloves might be in my future…after all we are nearing November, and frankly…since I’m not riding around in parka (there was a parka wearing rider this morning), I’m not a pansy…yet.

I spent my lunch perusing various online mercantiles for a new, warmer, neutral, yet still attractive sweater. I’m thinking chunky belted cardigan.   Whilst shopping, I confirmed what I theorized earlier this year.  Capes and caplets are HUGE this fall.  Which is cool and all, except, I’m concerned that trendy else where could be perceived as stupid looking here.

I mean to say, I like capes. I think they are cool. They are conducive to bike riding.  However, while they look great on the statuesque, slim models on the Gap and Old Navy websites,  they will quite possibly look utterly pretentious and retarded on Miranda.  Dramatic looks tend to swallow me whole…which is why I have yet to find cool “Tina Fey” or “Lisa Lobe” type glasses that don’t eat my face.  So its very possible that a cape might be overwelming on me.

So I will probably just go with the nice safe sweater for now, and make other outerwear choices later.

Weight Watchers Update

27 October 2008

I just got back from Weight Watchers.  My total weight loss to date has been 14.2 pounds.  That means I’m just 2 pounds away from my key chain.  And new pants….I think I’m going to need new pants.
